Hassan Darsi takes over the L'Atelier 21 from October 6 to 31, 2009, for an exhibition of contemporary works.
Hassan Darsi has been working for ten years, covering objects with gold adhesive tape. In Mutations ordinaires, he tackles the gilding of moving subjects for the first time. The golden waves series, inspired by the Casablanca coast, is a case in point. The artist also gilded a miniature replica of a tank used in the Gulf War. He deliberately chose a tank that is marked by the impact of shells, that carries within it a memory of violence, screams, wounds and death too. Rarely has the scale of a work's production been more acutely questioned by Hassan Darsi than in this exhibition at L'Atelier 21 art gallery.
