Painter Nabil El Makhloufi exhibits his recent works, from February 9 to March 5, 2016, at art gallery L'Atelier 21.
Nabil El Makhloufi's aesthetic approach is dominated by figuration, inspired by the Leipzig school. The characters the artist creates are never inert. They always impose a presence that is both fragile and threatening. Each painting takes and imposes a period of suspension on the viewer. The narrative component is consubstantial with the paintings, in the sense that each character, each scene is a window opening onto something else.
