L'Atelier 21 is hosting a major exhibition, devoted to the works of painter Hossein Tallal, from February 13 to March 20, 2018. Entitled Imaginary Portraits, this exhibition features the artist's latest paintings, as well as older works that show that Tallal's attraction to the human figure has never waned over the years.
In this exhibition, Tallal summons real, dreamt or fictional characters and multiplies his “imaginary portraits”. Art writer Maurice Arama describes Tallal's gallery of characters in these terms: “The figures, deciphered with humor and derision, are bathed in red, pink and parma harmonies, which the brush torments with freedom, offering amplitude - gift boxes - of rhythm and color, to the derisory incarnations of our world”.
