Abdelkrim Ouazzani was born in 1954 in Tétouan.
Abdelkrim Ouazzani pursued his academic training at a very young age at the School of Fine Arts in Tétouan before continuing his studies at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Upon his return to Morocco, he became a key figure in the art scene, first as an educational director and then as the director of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tétouan, while also developing a rich and original artistic career.
His work transcends traditional categories. Abdelkrim Ouazzani describes his approach as "three-dimensional painting," combining painting and sculpture in playful and poetic creations. Through his "sculpture-paintings" or "volume canvases," he transforms simple materials such as metal, plaster, and painted canvas, giving them new life. These forms, enveloped in vibrant colors, become figures full of fragility and humanity, evoking the innocence and spontaneity of childhood.
His works, marked by refined naiveté and learned simplicity, play with perceptions, creating a subtle dialogue between plane and volume, between space and form. Ouazzani's visual lexicon, both structured and fanciful, brings forth compositions imbued with a unique poetry that deeply resonates with viewers.
Exhibited in Morocco and abroad, Abdelkrim Ouazzani has captivated audiences with his innovative vision, establishing himself as a key figure in contemporary Moroccan art.
