Rebel Spirit was born in Casablanca in 1989.

After learning his trade in graffiti, Mohammed Amine El Bellaoui, aka Rebel Spirit, studied graphic design at the Casablanca School of Fine Arts. It was then that he began to recreate the world around him, using colorful characters far removed from the stereotypical representations we sometimes have.

A young visual artist with a passion for urban art and underground culture, Rebel Spirit approaches various pictorial techniques, including drawing, illustration, oil painting and watercolor. This prolific and eclectic multidisciplinary artist stands out for his versatility and the experimental techniques he employs. His approach advocates the imposition of constraints and the development of new processes.

In terms of imagery, Rebel Spirit elaborates a hybrid of several techniques, including animation, comics, pixilation and compositing. Through the composite multiplicity of strata of visual material, his rich, dense works often represent a transposition of reality that reveals a multitude of meanings that viewers can freely interpret.

The artist owes his success to his first two albums, Le guide casablancais 1 & 2, in which the figure of the Casablancais appears and becomes the emblem, crystallizing all the energy and contradictions of the White City. He is one of Morocco's youngest comic strip artists.

Rebel Spirit lives and works in Casablanca.
