Ikram Kabbaj was born in Casablanca in 1960.
From 1978 to 1987, she studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Casablanca, then at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Since 1989, she has been exploring materials and forms, showing them in various exhibitions in Morocco and abroad, and participating in sculpture symposia and biennales. Her work is based on research into materials, whether smooth or tortuous, in which she creates forms that strike the eye with their unusual character.
A militant for the integration of sculpture in public spaces, Ikram Kabbaj has taken up her pilgrim's staff, and never ceases to share her convictions with decision-makers in the fields of art, urban planning, the environment and the development of the Kingdom's cities and provinces, with unhoped-for benefits, actualized by the organization of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th International Sculpture Symposiums, respectively in El Jadida (2000), Tangier (2001), Fez (2002) Essaouira (2003), Taroudannt (2011) and Assilah (2016) with four parks of 44 outdoor sculptures.
Ikram Kabbaj is the only Moroccan artist considered a sculptor in her own right, and one of the most important in the Arab world.
Ikram Kabbaj's works have been included in a number of prestigious collections, including Société nationale des Autoroutes du Maroc, Emaar Properties (United Arab Emirates), Stowe Sculpture Park (USA), Société Générale (Morocco), Groupe Al Omrane (Morocco) and Diana Holding (Morocco).
Ikram Kabbaj lives and works between Casablanca and Marrakech.
