Moustapha Baidi Oumarou was born in 1997 in Maroua, Cameroon.

Self-taught artist, Moustapha Baidi Oumarou developed a passion for painting at an early age, and began exhibiting his first works in his hometown. At just 17, he was awarded 3rd prize for visual arts at the Maroua Festival in Cameroon, marking the start of his promising career.

Moustapha Baidi Oumarou's idealistic, conscious and humanistic outlook is reflected in his canvases, which he paints mainly using pigments, acrylics and pens. The artist depicts immobile figures, always devoid of faces, surrounded by flowers or vegetation, and illuminated by a contrast marked by the choice of bright colors.

Moustapha Baidi Oumarou explores the theme of vegetation and nature in his paintings, giving it symbolic meaning. For the artist, humans have progressively distanced themselves from nature, losing a vital connection with their original environment and an essential part of their identity, which he invites us to reconnect with through his canvas.

Baidi's work is not limited to this reflection on the relationship between man and nature, but also subtly and profoundly interrogates human relationships in all their facets: the bonds between individuals, the complex yet simple dynamics of male-female and family relationships, and those that weave the fabric of society as a whole.

Despite the portrait he paints of a difficult and dehumanized society, Moustapha Baidi Oumarou retains an idealistic vision, and his optimism always ends up taking over his works. Above all, the artist seeks to convey a message of unity, advocating a world where diversity is an asset rather than a source of discord.

Moustapha Baidi Oumarou has been the subject of several solo and group exhibitions around the world, in France, Switzerland, London, the United States and South Africa, and his works have been included in prestigious collections, including those of the Fondation Blachère (France), the Chris Moser Collection (Austria), and the Fondation Gandur (Switzerland).

The artist lives and works in Maroua.
