Moustapha Baïdi Oumarou was born in 1997 in Maroua, Cameroon.
A self-taught artist, he developed an early passion for painting and presented his first works in his hometown. At the age of 17, he received the third prize in visual arts at the Maroua Festival, marking the beginning of his artistic career.
Created using pigments, acrylic and pens, his works depict anonymous figures, often without faces, surrounded by flowers and vegetation. Through compositions marked by intense chromatic contrasts, Moustapha Baïdi Oumarou reflects on the relationships between human beings, nature and contemporary human relations.
Vegetation occupies a central place in his work, where it appears as a symbolic space connected to memory, identity and the idea of reconnecting with the living world. Between solitude, coexistence and a search for unity, his paintings construct a universe that is both meditative and rooted in everyday life.
His work has been featured in several solo and group exhibitions in France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and South Africa. His works are held in several private and institutional collections, including the Fondation Blachère (France), the Chris Moser Collection (Austria) and the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art (Switzerland).
Moustapha Baïdi Oumarou lives and works in Maroua.
