L'Atelier 21 has been selected to take part in the 25th edition of the contemporary and modern art fair Art Paris, which runs from March 30 to April 2, 2023 at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris. This anniversary edition brings together 134 galleries from 25 countries. Exhibiting galleries have been invited to focus on two themes: commitment and exile: Art & Commitment and Exile: dispossession and resistance.
On this occasion, the art gallery L'Atelier 21 will be presenting a solo show by artist Nabil El Makhloufi, chosen from among 18 international artists selected by Amanda Abi Khalil, the curator of the exhibition Exil : dépossession et résistance. Exile and migration are at the heart of painter Nabil El Makhloufi's artistic concerns. Nabil El Makhloufi is keenly aware of the risks taken by those who risk their lives to cross the Mediterranean from south to north, and shows us the distress and hope of people determined to establish themselves far from home. The viewer is left with a feeling of unease as they watch people huddled together, often waiting months for the right moment to reach Europe.
